4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, (o. pneuma) but try the spirits (o. pneuma) whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 4:2 Hereby know all of you the Spirit (o. pneuma) of God: Every spirit (o. pneuma) that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God: 4:3 And every spirit (o. pneuma) that confesses not that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof all of you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4:4 All of you are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world hears them. (I John 4:1-5 KJV)
John, like Paul, had churches that was under his care, and, like Paul, got word that there was trouble in some of the churches. John wrote letters to the churches to attempt to bring them into line. Above is a section of the first letter. The world is like a large church and there is trouble everywhere.
The devil and his minions are everywhere causing problems and discontent whereby everyone is on edge wondering what is happening and scrambling for peace and tranquility. Think about the number of troublemakers like this, in John’s time the troublemakers were few but here it is two thousand years later and the few have multiplied to multi-millions more.
Focusing on today’s politics we have many demons, troublemakers, that are attempting to destroy peace and our way of living for their own pleasure and fortune. There is one that claims he does no evil and have followers that believe in him as if he was a god. He confesses that there is no one greater than him or can do anything greater than he does. Yet, everything he does turns out badly and withers like a dying plant.
I can not believe in, listen to, vote for, nor be in the same room with a person that I know is a liar, thief, lover of himself only, and have a passion to destroy my way life to make his better. However, there are many that truly believe in him and believe he can do no wrong. In 4:1 John said not to believe in everyone but test them to find out whether they are followers of Jesus, children of God.
Although lawsuits are moving against this person, and one court have found him guilty (the monetary phase is being decided now) too many people are still saying it is wrong to do anything to this man. They are willing to take wrong over right and persecute anyone they find that is not with them and do not praise him. The only one I praise is God and will only follow God’s way, not the wrong way.
As John was trying to tell the people of the church, not everyone is good. There are many deceivers that are trying to destroy everything. Look for them, root them out, and do not follow them. I say, open your mind and eyes and see the false people. Believe in good and not what you are told to do and believe. It is all up to you because the pot is about to boil over, and you can only blame yourself. Read John.
