2:13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appears to Joseph in a dream, saying, arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be you there until I bring you word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy Him.
2:14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:
2:15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, out of Egypt have I called my Son.
2:16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding angry, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
2:17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying,
2:18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
2:19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appears in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
2:20 Saying, arise, and take the young child and His mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child’s life.
2:21 And he arose, and took the young child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel.
Immigrant: A person who migrates to another country, usually for permanent residence.
Migrant: a person who attempts to permanently relocate to a new country, but who may be subject to removal by the government of that country.
There has always been territory for sects of people. Physical barriers marking the territorial borders were not present but people, somehow, knew where they were and where they were going. Everyone’s forefathers came here from somewhere else. We are all migrants; we are all immigrants.
God sent an angle to Joseph and told him to take his family and migrate to Egypt to escape the killings. Therefore, Jesus was an immigrant. Yet, many people say He was not and will not listen to anything different.
Countries all over the world are seeing the migration of many people. The USA has seen an astounding amount of people seeking asylum from their country because of the threat of death, the same as Jesus and His family. The Palestinians are in the same boat as the people before them. Ironically it is the same country that Jesus and His family fled to.
We have Ellis Island for the immigrants coming to the USA many years ago. We have the African American forefather that was bought here as a slave. We have the Mayflower that anchored on our northeast coast and Jamestown, Virginia and they met the Native Americans. Thousands of years ago the Native Americans came by way of the natural land bridge from the European continent (they were first).
There you have it. We all are a product of an immigrant just like Jesus was an immigrant. Jesus’s family was accepted so why cannot we do the same? God is watching and He knows what is in the soul. You cannot hide your true feelings from God because we all are immigrants.
