8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. 13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. (Matthew 2:8 and 13 KJV)

I know most people have heard the saying, “History repeats itself”. And, if you have not paid attention over the years, it is true that history does indeed repeat itself. Maybe not exactly the same identical way every time but in a way that is a modification of the old way. During this season, as I look at Matthew chapter two, it reminds me that over and over again the same scenario raises it’s ugly, repeating head.

Herod did not want to lose his reign or power, whichever way you may want to phrase it, and he was willing to go to any length to prevent it. He did not understand what was being told to him or he did not want to understand. All he heard was he would lose his authority over the people to a new King and he was not going to stand idly by, watching all he had dissolve forever . The only way to maintain his hold over the people and keep his status was to get rid of this King that was to soon be born.

In today’s take on things, as it has happened time and time again over the years, rulers, leaders, bosses, supervisors, so called friends have vied against whatever or whomever to maintain power or the false illusion of having some sort of power. These people will hurt family, friends and foe alike to keep the power and the pass election season have shown the same. It has shown the lies, backroom haggling, deceit and false partnerships to win at any cost. Then, to even join forces to defeat, or at least hamper, the other side of their devious plan.

Just like Herod said he wanted to come and worship him also. Politicians will say anything to get into office, maintain that office, keep others out of office that may hinder them, no matter it is a good thing or not and to deeply lie to hide the truth. Old politics and new politics at work and it is all the same, just different times, different ways, different attitudes. Herod did not start this trend, it have been going on since the beginning of time. History repeating over and over again.

The same thing can be seen here at Imperial Plaza everyday. People in the administration subtly vying against each other, trying for a higher position. The other employees maneuvering for more pay and/or higher position. Then there are the different Imperial Plaza committees that have a power struggle of their own. Don’t forget the Imperial Plaza lobby gang that sit in the four lobbies and gossip. Even this gossip have a planed meaning about who will come to the top, as does the cream.

So, this pass Presidential Election have feet in the past, while not even mentioning the future. Both sides have been rife with lies, misconceptions and dirty dealings. Don’t say it…everyone is unclean and it includes ministers also. There is only one pure, clean Individual and they tried to do away with Him at His birth and, after thirty two years, they finally rid themselves of Him…or did they? Just remember one thing. Everyone have an agenda and it may be detrimental to your being. Trust in God, not man. God loves you for you. Man loves you for what he can get out of you or against you.
