13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. (1 Corinthians 10:13-15 KJV)
10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. (1 Corinthians 10 KJV)
Here, Paul is speaking to the church in Corinth. He is telling them to stick together in their faith. He is also reiterating what the world is like and what the world will do to them if they don’t stick together. That they will be tempted by evil, all things that are common to man but is not acceptable to God. And, to run from idolizing anything or anyone that is not good to God.
People today have forgotten that message and, God have mercy on them, they will bear God’s punishment. Here in the United States, we have a divided nation that is idolizing people that really don’t care about them. This person or people only care about themselves, their pockets and staying in office. Not necessarily in that order.
I remember, during the Supreme Court Senate trial, a Congressman said he would not have said what he said if he was up for re-election. Most people in Congress would not do the things they are doing if not for re-election. They do not care for what their people want. They only look out for themselves. They don’t want to make the President angry although he does not care about them except for them to carry forth his agenda, no matter how crazy it is.
20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. 21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils. 22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he? 23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. 24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth. (1 Corinthians 10: 20-24 KJV)
As I said about Job I say about Paul. Be like Paul, heed what he is saying. People should be honorable and do their job. They were elected on their word (one said she would only do two six-year terms and is now near the end of her third term. Do we need term limits?) and, so far, not many is upholding their word. Many are idolizing someone that is beneath most things a leader should do or say. Lord have mercy on them and us. We are provoking the Lord’s jealousy and we are not stronger than He is. And, I will not edify a liar, leader or not, no matter the party.
Do not take my word for it, for it is written in the Bible. All it takes is prayer, loving God and the ability to read without adding words that are not there. That is the reason I put the passage in each blog. I may not have it exactly right. I may have people that disagree. Do not take my word for it but at least read it, pray on it and do the right thing. You can’t have it both ways. You are either for good or for evil. If you choose evil, hoping to get what you want, you lose. Don’t take my word for it because that is also in the Bible. God help us all.
