Destroyed Idols

20:16 Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols. 20:17 Nevertheless mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness. 20:18 But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk all of you not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols : 20:19 I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; 20:20 And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that all of you may know that I am the LORD your God. (Ezekiel 20:16-20 KJV)

People are up in arms about the removal of Confederate monuments. Here in Richmond, Virginia, capitol of the Confederacy during the Civil War, all have been removed on Monument Avenue (except for Robert E. Lee which is in a court battle), and the others across the city, are scheduled to go. Most of these people call themselves ‘God fearing’ yet they only adhere to and remember the parts of the Bible that does not prevent them from doing things that they want to do.

If they would read the twentieth chapter of Ezekiel (what I have posted is only a small portion) and understand it without adding to or taking away any words, maybe they would begin to understand the removal. That is only one reason but not what all the fuss is about. The United States is the only country that have erected monuments to the losers of war. Yes, losers. The Confederacy did not win the Civil War. Further, like the confederate flag, the monument flies in the face of the oppressed people that say they will never be free and those that flaunt the flag and monuments have not surrendered.

This is the United States of America, on land forcefully taken from the Indians, built with the sweat and blood of Black slaves, and fought a Civil War to consolidate states into one government. Yet, those that still believe in the Confederacy worship idols of the Confederacy. They praise these losers more than God. Yes, Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, etc., before God and disregard Ezekiel. Ezekiel 20:18 clearly say to the children of the idol lovers to follow God and His commandments and He will care for them but do not follow the statutes of their fathers.

It cannot be any clearer than what God says. He says ‘do not’ worship idols and monuments are idols. Putting anything, any man above God is simply wrong and God will have His way in the end with those that defy Him. The people that say they are Christian, believe in God, fear God and read the Bible should really read the Bible. Time is very short, and you will never know when your time to depart this world will arrive. Do as God say and give up these idols, men and stone, and have eternal life.
