1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. 5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. 6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. 8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. 9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. 13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. 14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. (Romans 13 KJV)
I read a twitter feed that talked about Paula White and Sara Huckabee Sanders that referenced Romans 13, I read it for myself (read above). I read a tad bit of what they both said but disagree when you read Romans 13 in it’s full context. I did not read God’s ordaining any law that would separate any child from the parent that is legally entering any country or preventing any legal entry into any country. I do not know of anyone that want to be separated from their child or a child from the parent. To do this is not love but pure unadulterated evil (verse 4).
Paula White, spiritual adviser for President Trump, stated Jesus would have been sinful and “would not have been our Messiah” if he had broken immigration laws. Also, she said He was a refugee in Egypt for three and a half years. I agree because there was not any penalty for going to one country from another. The Statue Of Liberty, given to us by France, is inscribed with the message welcoming all people that want to come to our country. Our country, like all countries, check people to see who they are and to have an accounting of the number of people entering and exiting. If people come and ask to enter, they abide by the law and are legal, only those that sneak in are illegal. They are our neighbors and we should love them. The great majority of our neighbors were asking to enter the country and were jailed and separated from their children. Read verses nine and ten.
Sara Huckabee Sanders re-enforced the Trump policy (separating children from their parents when no other President did although the immigration law was in the books (adults and children can not be held in jail together)) by saying it was very biblical to enforce the law. Family separation is not a law but a new policy. What law is broken when asking to enter a country? Verse eight say to love one another and that will fulfill the law of God. As we, yes I wrote WE, forcefully separate children we are not loving one another nor are we doing unto others as we would want done unto us. It is not an option nor can it be corrected later. Once done, it is done. Verse 4 takes over and, as I have written many times before, God will have His due.
Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself…or else
