24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it. 25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children. (Matthew 27:24-25 KJV)
All my life I have heard and said the words ‘I wash my hands of this’, knowing what it meant but never truly knowing where it came from, actually, never cared. It was just what was said at the time when you didn’t want to deal with something. In later years I knew from where it came but, again, I never really thought about it or cared because, to me, it really didn’t mean anything. It was just something said, or so I thought.
After the Jewish Elders turned Jesus over to the Governor to be crucified Pilate asked a series of questions and could find no wrong. After Pilate tried to satisfy the people’s will for blood, he offered Barabbas in His place. The people still wanted Jesus which put Pilate’s back to the wall, Pilate took water and washed his hands. Pilate did not want to have the blood of an innocent man on his hands. That is where the expression come from.
As I have said many times before 1) history repeats itself and 2) the Bible is a learning tool. Look at what is happening today, Jeff Sessions recused himself and the President angry because the blood will be his. He is not Jesus although he tries to be. He is not even close to become a God, although he think he is above everyone else (I could shoot someone in the middle of fifth avenue and get away with it ). Then with him being a narcissist and a liar doesn’t help his case.
57 And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. 58 But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest’s palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end. 59 Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; 60 But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses (Matthew 26:57-60 KJV)
Peter, a person that could save Jesus, stayed in the rear and didn’t say anything but to deny knowing Jesus. The cock crowed. Not wanting to get on the wrong side of the people, the Elders looked for false witnesses to justify condemning Jesus until they found two. Still, Peter did not speak for Jesus.
The same thing is happening today and will continue until the GOP stop hiding, trying to keep their job and speak the truth. The entire government, all three branches, is in turmoil and, before it is over, we will all suffer. If we do not take the lessons taught by Job and seriously apply them, we will not survive. We can not wash our hands of this and the cock is getting louder. There’s so much blood, called incompetence, that we may never wash ourselves of it. Awaken, everybody, and make your voice heard. Love God, vote and do not hear nor follow a person that have broken every commandment of God and is proud of it.
