The Fleet Of Foot

13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word:  for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.   14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:  15 And was there until the death of Herod:  that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.   16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.   17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, 18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not. (Matthew2:13-15 KJV)

These were the days that people could travel wherever they wanted, and, in this passage, travel was a great necessity. Mary and Joseph had traveled to Bethlehem be counted in the census, the original place of residency. After getting notice of impending danger, although they had a new born, travel to a new place had to be done. Mary and Joseph were on a mission of life or death, there was no choice.

Mary and Joseph made a new life for themselves, working hard and reared their son, happy and safe in a land that welcomed them with open arms. This land was safe, and they offered their services, talents, in appreciation. Jesus prospered well and never forgot the land for His life and the life of His parents.

The United States of America is in, sort of, a similar situation but lack the decency to welcome the talents coming from other places. These immigrants offer much in the way of labor and mind-filled talents. Yet, there is a Herod like group that want to turn away these people while still searching for people to fulfill positions that these people offer.

These people are attempting to escape a harsh environment or death only to encounter the same fate at our borders. Instead of open arms, the arms are closed, fists held high, jobs still unfilled, rhetoric still shrilling in the wind. The people closing the borders don’t have any pity on anyone and, if some should die attempting to enter the land of plenty and equality (?), they close their eyes and turn their heads. Yet, from their lips drip the words welcoming people. People that they choose. How can they choose when, for their administration, they choose criminals?

I hear the parents of the children that have died looking for a better life, attempting to escape death only to find it at our borders. I hear the people of my nation crying for the better treatment of the seekers of a better life only to be rebuffed by our hirelings. The majority that wanted the hirelings must live with the blood of many people on their hands. The blood that only God can wash away if He so choose.

God hears the cries of the downtrodden, the abused and the forgotten. God will come in His own time and avenge them. Leave it to God as you pray to God and abide by His will. These people are Godless and will regret everything they have said, done and who they followed. God will not spare them when He take the oppressor to the fiery pit.
